Read With Me! Stress-Free Strategies for Building Language & Literacy PE12968
Read With Me! Stress-Free Strategies for Building Language & Literacy PE12968 #20
This book and CD are especially useful to professionals who work with children who have language and communication disorders. Developed, written, and tested by a speech-language pathologist and a reading specialist, "Read with Me!" is a powerful and effective tool for helping parents and educators become active participants in the development of children's most fundamental language skills--talking and reading. Adaptable for use across a wide spectrum of age and ability levels, this material is geared toward improving the early language and literacy experiences of children.
The "Read With Me!" program targets the fundamental skills of talking and listening as a basis for the development of literacy. Children are not expected to talk if they have not been talked to. Similarly, children are not expected to read if they have never, or seldom, been read to! Additional core early reading competencies related to the development of oral language, phonological awarenss, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills are also developed when this book is used during reading interactions. Most importantly, this book helps children and adults find the joy of reading together - the most fundamental of all the foundational literacy skills.
The "Read With Me!" Home and School sections provide specific pre/post evaluation forms for documentating changes that occur as a result of engaging children in the reading strategies. These two sections contain reproducible forms plus guidelines for when to use which forms. The results should be shared with any individual or agencies who are "stockholders" in the successful implementation of "Read With Me!"
