What Happened and Why? GP10  This book has been designed with special needs children in mind, although beginning readers of any level can benefit from the positive experiences inside. Activities in the book have been created for children of varying ability levels.

In this book a child looks at pictures and makes inferences about what might have happened in the picture. Each sentence page poses a "what?" or "where?" question and then answers it. For example, what did she spill? She spilled the milk. The child should place the appropriate picture on the velcro in the square on the page. Next, ask the child "why?" this activity might have happened. Encourage them to explore possible reasons why the activity occurred. For example, she might have knocked the glass over or she was not looking at what she was doing.

Extra or replacement velcro-backed 4-color picture cards can be purchased to replace lost or damaged cards and can be placed in AAC devices for communications or used to create new sentences and games.
