Tuned In to Learning Volume 9: Adapted Dance & Movement Music CD TIL109 (CLON)

Liven up learning with the interactive songs on this music CD that are designed to give students hands-on practice in achieving common IEP goals. This CD is adaptable for students at a variety of mobility levels, including those who utiliize wheelchairs, and is ideal for use by both therapists and classroom teachers. The refreshingly original songs break down movement sequences into easy to teach components. Tunes range in style from hip-hop, to country, and pop, complete with entertaining themes that spark imagination and creativity.

Watch your students shine as they practice simple dance steps, partner activities, warm-up stretches, and follow the leader games with the benefit of extended response time. Music not only keeps your students on-task, but also serves as a timekeeper to help with pacing, coordination, and endurance.

Following is a listing of 10 original songs on the CD along with a sample IEP objective for each:
1. Dancing on the Moon - The student will follow the instructor's lead during a group activity without bumping into others performing warm-up stretches presented in song format for a period of 3.5 consecutive minutes over 4 out of 5 trial days.
2. Who Wants to Dance? - The student will move his or her body and limbs in imitation of the instructor for 4 out of 4 movements over 4 of 5 trial days.
3. Raise the Roof - The student will identify the right and left sides of the body by following instructions including left/right within a dance activity with 80% accuracy in 4 out of 5 opportunities.
4. Dance Party at the Zoo - The student will move his or her body in different positions according to instruction by completing 5 out of 6 animal movements in song format over 4 out of 5 trial days.
5. Do the Robot - The student will perform a movement activity requiring sequencing by correctly completing a 4 step dance sequence given visual clues (color coded dots on the floor) in 3 out of 4 occasions.
6. Dance with Me - The student will participate as a leader and a follower during a group activity by initiating 1 movement for peers to imitate and following at least 1 movement presented by peers in 4 out of 5 trial days.
7. Side to Side - The student will change direction from forward/backward and right/left in response to music cues while traveling (walking, using a wheelchair, etc.) in 6 out of 8 opportunities over 4 out of 5 trial days.
8. Shake it All Around - The student will participate in a physical activity that relies on cooperation by completing a 4-step sequence with a partner (look, hold hands, bounce, shake) in 3 out of 4 opportunities over 4 out of 5 trial days.
9. Hit the Brake - The student will start/stop body movement in reponse to a signal by traveling forward/backward and stopping according to instructions presented via song format in 7 out of 8 trials over 4 out of 5 trial days.
10. I'm a Little Bit Country - The student will maintain balance while in motion by kicking left or right heels up to meet the opposite hand (in front and back of the body) during a group song activity in 80% of opportunities over 4 out of 5 trial days.

Participation can also be adapted by having the instructor gently guide the student in modified versions of the movements in the songs.
