The Goodenoughs Get In Sync SR103  This "self-help" book is designed with the action of the story in large print for younger readers to read or hear. Explanations of sensory processing issues are woven through the story in regular type for proficient readers to linger over at leisure.

Everyone with sensory challenges (motor, developmental, and/or emotional issues) will find a character to identify with. Maybe your child is like Darwin with sensory overresponsivity. Or perhaps you know someone like Betsy and Filibuster, who are sensory seekers. The Goodenough's tough day starts to make sense when they realize what each needs to do to get back in sync.

On one level, this delightfully illustrated story is about a family of five, each with a different sensory processing dysfunction (SPD), and their naughty dog that creates chaos in the family when he steals a favorite from Darwin, the 11-year-old. On another level, the book is an educational guide to SPDs, offering more detailed explanations about things like meltdowns, sensory diets and work activities in-between the story line in smaller print. The "educational" portions of the book include a classification system of the basic SPDs; a glosssary of terms; an activites (coping) guide; and resources and sites for equipment.

The book greatly simplifies a complex condition and also is excellent for those who live and/or work with children with sensory issues.
