Each of the 43 page early social skills books teach skills that fall into the following three categories:
1. Respect and Responsibility
2. Citizenship
3. Manners
These skills help children develop a sense of respect and responibility towards others. In the process, they build self-esteem and feel confident in social situations.
The practice books provide children the opportunity to work individually and at their own pace. A skill is presented, and then followed by exercises allowing children to practice immediately what they have learned. An Answer Page with appropriate responses to the activities is provided at the back of each book, After students complete a page, review the answers with them to provide immediate feedback.
The books are intended for children at the preschool and kindergarten levels. Children should be able to work through activities with little adult supervision. The extensive use of pictures makes it easy for children to understand the content. However, the youngest students may need to have an adult read the text to them. To be most effective, it's important that an adult discuss and reinforce the character-building skills.
