Rocks in My Socks and Rainbows Too - A Phonemic Awareness Tale CHP106  Rocks in My Socks and Rainbows Too is the third in Lavelle Carlson's humorous phonemic awareness series that teaches phonemic awareness and language skills necessary for reading success. Corey's mother, concerned with an impending storm, is unaware of what Corey is doing with the rocks he picks up. When she gets home she discovers that what she heard him saying to her did not mean what she thought it did.

The story is heavy in phonemic awareness activities and language comprehension skills. The story is great for teaching early inference skills through the use of pictures paired with "wh" questions. The repetition of colors and other language concepts increases reading success. The repetivie dialogue also makes the book great for scripting and acting out stories using animal hand puppets or student made puppet masks.

Targeted skills and suggested activities are included in the back for easy reference for teachers, parents, and speech pathologists.
