No Fishing Allowed - "Reel" In Bullying Package FH116A
No Fishing Allowed - "Reel" In Bullying Package FH116A #187
Finally, one program teaches students and adults what they can do to prevent bullying. The title reflects the notion that a child who bullies will bait others in an attempt to "catch" more power and control. Those students who are targeted are then given strategies to resist being "hooked" by the bait of the child who bullies. Students who are witnesses to these bullying attempts are given tools to enforce the "No Fishing Allowed" philosophy. By combining these concepts, the goal of the program is to allow all children to learn in a safe and secure school setting.
Through the use of the Teacher's Manual, Student Workbook, and accompanying DVD (sold as a package or separately) this program:
1. Emphasizes empowerment strategies for all students who are affected by bully/target relationships.
2. Provides teachers with information, ideas, and activities to address bullying attempts and other unfriendly social interactions.
3. Addresses topics such as peer conflict versus bullying attempts, tattling versus reporting, word bullying, friendship bullying, gender-specific bullying, anti-bullying strategies for witnesses, and more.
4. Supplies an in-depth annotated bibliography consisting of numerous additional resources.
The "No Fishing Allowed" DVD and user's guide allows you to customize student training by identifying points in the presentation appropriate for questions, clarification, role play and/or situation-specific examples. Suggestions to promote interaction between children and professionals are provided. Corresponding pages in the Teacher Manual are given.
"No Fishing Allowed" DVD & User's Guide FH119 $49.95
The key to creating a peaceful learning community is the tone set by the classroom teacher. The purpose of the 54 page Teacher Manual is to provide teachers with information, ideas, and activities to address bullying attempts and other unfriendly social interactions in a classroom setting. A peaceful classroom promotes the development of students' social competencies and sense of belonging. The need for discipline decreases when all students feel that they are valued in the classroom. Thus, instructional time is maximized. Some of the topics covered in the Teacher Manual are:
> Bully on the Bus
> Peer Conflict
> Roles in a bullying attempt
> Why do some children bully others?
> Forms of bullying: word, body, and friendship
> Children who are targets of bullying attempts
> Teaching the "Targets: What to Say and Do" strategies
> Children who know about bullying attempts
> Tattling vs. Reporting
"No Fishing Allowed" Teacher Manual FH117 $14.95
The 14 page Student Workbook is set up as a class going to an important assembly. The name of the assembly is "No Fishing Allowed." Some of the words in the workbook are purple and green. All the words in purple will be read before the assembly and all the words in green are read after the assembly. The children fill out answers to questions in black.
