Learn To Move, Move To Learn: Sensorimotor Early Childhood Activity Themes AAPC102  This is a wonderful collection of activities that can be used with all children of differing abilities. It is easy to understand and is a collaborative, transdisciplinary program that can be implemented by teachers, other professionals, and parents.

Based on the principles of sensory integration, each lesson in the book addresses motor, language, sensory, cognitive, and social/emotional skills. For example, children might be learning their letters while simultaneously working on balance, eye-coordination, and turn taking. Each of the 50 themes is accomplished by a lesson plan that provides specific ideas for how to implement a succesion of seven activities in a group: warm-up, vestibular, proprioceptive, balance, eye-hand coordination, cool-down, and fine motor. All activities are designed to be fun and motivating, while simultaneously providing important sensory input, motor development, and learning.

In addition to lesson plans, the book provides a through, yet simple explanation of sensory integration that is easily understood by all adults involved in implementing the group activities. Finally, the book is rounded out by sections on adaptive equipment, special needs of children, collaboration, leadership roles, and group management - issues that must be addressed to ensure successful outcomes.
