The illustrations used in Animation Station 1 contain actual photographs of children and objects focused on the lyrics of the 12 songs on the CD. The goals of these animations/videos include learning common vocabulary words, sentence construction, phonemic awareness of beginning letter sounds, concepts of same and different, and multi-syllabic word production. In addition you will find suggested activities to do with each song, a Video Request Sheet, and the lyrics to the following songs:
1. Baby Blowing Bubbles
2. Milk and Juice
3. Let's Eat
4. Put Them On
5. Cheese and Macaroni
6. Slide
7. Brush
8. Bananas
9. Go
10. I Love
11. Alphabeat
12. What's That?
The files on the CD should be installed on a Mac computer with a Quick Time Player or on a PC with a Windows Media Player installed. They are too large to be played directly from the CD. To be able to view the PDF files you also must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer.
Animation songs can also be viewed on an iPad by first importing them to your iTunes library or on a SMART Board by attaching your computer with a VGA cable.
Keep in mind that viewing the audio-visual shows/animations are only as powerful as the person that uses them. If you only let the child watch the show, you are seriously decreasing the learning potential for each song/show. Think about what you can teach the child in multiple areas of development. Most importantly, the animations should be viewed with you and the child together. The suggestions in the Manual include goals and activities that can be used in combination with the songs and animations. Some of the suggestions cover the areas of language, cognition, fine motor, gross motor, self-help, and social-emotional areas. In addition to those crucial developmental areas, another important component to the songs and animations is the connection they can give to early literacy - getting the child ready for reading.
