How Do I Feel? GP08  This book has been designed with special needs children in mind, although beginning readers of any level can benefit from the positive experiences inside. Activities in the book have been created for children of varying ability levels.

Children learn to identify pictures of emotions in this book. Through the process of matching, identifying, and labeling the picture cards children come to understand certain emotions better. Once they they can associate these 18 emotions with a corresponding picture card, they can start with the reading program which allows children to label their feelings. Sentences such as, "I feel _______ when I do a good job," allow the children to label their feelings. There are no correct answers. Open-ended questions at the back of the book allow teachers, therapists, parents or children to make up their own sentences. Even if a child is non-verbal or doesn't speek English, once they can identify the pictures, you can read the sentence and have them give you or point to the picture that labels their emotion.

Extra or replacement velcro-backed 4-color picture cards can be purchased to replace lost or damaged cards and can be placed in AAC devices for communications or used to create new sentences and games.
