From Sentence to Narrative CP-027  As your students become more proficient in expressing themselves you'll need more challenging materials and activities to help them move forward. This book gives you what you need to help your students combine their sentences into more elaborate and complex spoken or written passages.

You'll begin by helping students develop passages that will give them a foundation for constructing personal narratives. Move on to combining sentences to form simple cohesive sentence combinations. Then, help students build simple expository passages as they compare similar items.

Finally, students will delight in their ability to retell stories. Under your directions students will listen to a story then respond to your prompts to retell the story, step by step. Minimize your prompts until your student needs only to see the pictures in order to generate the sentences that tell the story.

Guide students to develop or reconstruct sentences by offering them prompts. Students look at picture pages as you use guide pages to help students do this.

Using this interactive pattern students will "practice" telling a lot of information about themselves, family members, friends, or special events in their own lives.

Help your students to develop simple expository passages telling of familiar things. Use helpful guides to trigger sentences about different features of animals, foods, and more.

Use dozens of useful lessons to help students build simple multi sentence passages, a skill most important for literacy development.

Guide your students to retell stories offering structure and prompts to help them move form one sentence to the next. Once again, using the interactive method, you'll help students to retell the events of simple stories in logical order.
