Beth is the owner of Special Editions Press, a publishing company which specializes in Interactive Storybooks, a series of 21 books created for typically-developing children from 3-7 years of age and children with special needs. Each of these innovative books provides multisensory, early literacy experiences for young children. The pages are easy to turn, the concepts are familiar and easy to understand, and the graphics are colorful and bright. They feature the Mayer-Johnson Picture Communication Symbols©. Each story comes alive for the children as they move die-cut objects from the book onto a storyboard as the story is read. The books are ideal for use in individual and group therapy sessions, classrooms, childcare settings, and in libraries. They are also wonderful for families to use at home.
Interactive Storybooks were awarded the Mom’s Choice Award Gold Medal for Best Children’s Book Series in 2007. Beth currently works as a consultant to an inclusive preschool program in New Jersey where children with special needs play and learn alongside their typically-developing peers. Beth says that It is especially gratifying to watch children with special needs and their peers or siblings enjoying and interacting with the books together in classrooms, libraries, and at home!
